Any business owner who has ever listed a deal with a social couponing site knows that the influx of appointments to come can be quite overwhelming. Everyone loves a good deal, and whether you are offering a half priced haircut or 40% off teeth whitening, a deal is sure to bring in a ton of business from clients new and old. Being prepared goes a long way, but if you are taking appointments by phone you are likely going to have overworked staff and frustrated customers in the days following such a deal. While everyone loves a deal, most do not want to have to wait or waste time for it. A human appointment scheduler can only do so much, but an online appointment setting program can do much more.

Whether you have one appointment scheduler or several, it is a given that the days after a deal are going to be much busier than normal. They will likely be overwhelmed with phone calls and this can lead to mistakes. Allowing customers the ability to book online will greatly streamline the process. Customers without the deal will not have to wait on hold, new customers coming for the deal will not be turned off by the long wait on hold, and staff will not go crazy trying to keep everything straight.

This ability to streamline the appointment setting process during a busy time will reduce the likelihood of mistakes made by the appointment scheduler. Abnormal times are prime breeding ground for mistakes due to being overworked and overwhelmed, and allowing for appointments to be made online and reducing stress on manual appointment setters reduces this risk of mistake significantly. The stress reductions will go a long way toward keeping employees happy as well, and happy employees are much more productive.

Not that the need for a human appointment scheduler will be eliminated completely. Someone will have to answer the phone calls that do come in, keep an eye on appointments made online, and encourage those that do call in to use the online scheduling system. Questions about the deal will also have to be answered occasionally, which means no one will be out of a job. Rather their job will simply be easier to do. This along with more satisfied customers may very well turn those coming only for the deal into loyal clientele that produce revenue for years to come.
