Much like the peanut butter solution grew hair; the right web marketing solution can grow a business’ bottom line. A web marketing solution needs to take in all of the facets of the web and the company who will be using the solution model.

Marketing for the web is a very different animal than marketing on television, the radio or billboards. Many companies are still using the same passive model of advertising. Show a picture of the product, say some supposedly convincing words and hope that the viewer buys the product. Worse, on the internet, the hope is that the viewer will click on the web site and then buy a product, adding one more precarious step to the marketing process line.

The internet is a unique medium in that it offers people the opportunity to interact with everything. There are point-and-click games, mouse-following games and keyboarding games. The moment a user gets bored that person can click to the next cool thing. Users no longer have to sit through a dumb commercial. They can click, click, click their way to commercial-free freedom.

This interactivity and instantaneous response to an action is both the best of the internet and the worst for advertisers. A successful web marketing solution might include creating a game like Butterfinger’s factory attack game where players used likenesses of Lou Ferrigno, Charisma Carpenter and Erik Estrada to keep zombies from getting into the Butterfinger factory. The time to assume that people will be influenced by the mere watching of a video or the mere sight of a picture is over. Companies need a better web marketing solution.

Ad placement is also a different game. Now ads can be specifically targeted to a group. This makes internet marketing when done well a much more powerful tool. If someone likes Disney on Facebook, Disney knows that it can market to that person and have a greater success rate for sales. Disney also knows that marketing alone on Facebook isn’t going to get it. While sending out announcements about upcoming films and the newest merchandise to a group that has self-identified with Disney, or any company, is a dream come true, that company needs to also send out posts that aren’t related to marketing. They need to use the social media socially.

A web marketing solution is a great idea for a company and a lot less sticky than the peanut butter solution.
