A photo blanket is a wonderful gift selection for anyone that you love and care about. Many people will proudly display a photo blanket on the wall where others will use them as comforting throws in the home. A photo blanket is something that tells a story and to many people this can be one of their favorite and most cherished gifts. A photo blanket can be made from several different material options and in order to make the blanket last for a long time you will need to understand how to properly care for a photo blanket.
Any type of blanket you have will need to have a good washing once and awhile. This is the best way to keep it looking and smelling fresh and clean. Even a photo blanket that is used as a wall decoration will need to be washed over the years as dust and other things will start to collect on it. A photo blanket does require different type of care and washing from a standard fleece or cotton blanket.
Read the instructions on the blanket to see what type of washing it requires. Some of the throw blankets are made with delicate fabrics and you may need to dry clean them. Others may require a good steaming in the bathroom. You may even need to hand wash other blankets. Reading the care tag will allow you to properly wash the blanket so you do not have colors that bleed together and ruin the blanket and also to be sure you are not shrinking the blanket. For most of the photo blanket styles that are out there you can simply add them to the washing machine and wash them on your delicate or gentle cycle. This should be able to give you a clean blanket without shrinking the blanket or being too rough on it and causing it to rip.
When caring for a photo blanket you need to avoid any cleaners that contain bleach. They can ruin the colors of the photo blanket. Since most of the photo blankets are made out of cotton you should be okay to use just about any detergent you want to use on the blanket. It is up to you if you would like to dry the blanket on a clothes line or if you would like to dry it in the dryer as the blanket should be just fine and won’t shrink in the dryer.
