Why do people get chemical peels? The uses of chemical peels are considered a minimal invasive procedure to help you looks younger. Chemical peels can be performed on the face, neck, or hands. Chemical peels are used to:
• Reduce age spots, such as freckles and dark patches due to pregnancy or birth control pills.
• Improve the look and feel of skin that is dull in texture and color
• Treat wrinkles cause by sun damage, aging and other hereditary factors
• Reduce fine lines under the eyes and around the mouth
• Treat certain types of acne

By reading the uses of chemical peels above you can see why the desire to look younger and rid of flaws would be appealing to most. But before your rush off to do a chemical peel you need to be educated on what to expect and the different types of chemical peels.
First prior to going to a chemical peel your aesthetician may ask you to stop taking certain drugs and prepare your skin with topical preconditioning medications such as retin-a, or glycolic acid. Once you are prepared you need to know what type of chemical peel you want. Here are the different types:
• Lighter peels
• Medium peels
• Stronger peels

Lighter peels like lactic and glycolic acid will generate a clearer more even complexion but the results take place over time. Little to no discomfort is experienced with this solution. You may experience flakiness or a flushed appearance afterwards. The lighter peel is desired by people who do not have the ability to take time from the daily life to stay indoors while their skin heals.
Medium peels like trichloroacetic acid, are used when skin damage is more significant. A stinging sensation will be felt upon application of the solution depending on the strength of the acid topical numbing agents may be used.

Stronger peels like phenol acid produce deep peeling and unearth much younger looking skin. This peel is appropriate for people who have substantial wrinkle or deep acne scars. The discomfort level of this peel is significant and may even require anesthesia.

One thing to remember is that chemical peels help with combating wrinkled skin and acne scars, but they do not address facial droopiness or sagging. When selecting the correct person to perform the procedure make sure to check credentials of the facility performing the peel this is not something you want to look for a deal for.
